Thanksgiving 2019

Trans-seasonal Santa
The photo is of a Santa disguised as a Pilgrim. This three-foot-tall person-like object was lurking about in a CVS in Lafayette recently. He’s a trans-seasonal Santa. You are invited to submit your Thanksgiving-related stories, poems, photos, and captions for the photos.

Things for Which We are Thankful

This is a rather self-explanatory section.

Stories of the meal

Stories of the Quirky Guest

This is an unavoidable genre for Thanksgiving stories.  Includes the irritating relative story, etc.

Stories of Meal Prep Disaster

This is the second most popular Thanksgiving story topic.

Recipes

Stories of Thanksgivings Past

These stories may also fit into the meal prep disaster or the quirky guest categories, but try to think outside the box.

Stories only Tangentially Related to Thanksgiving

Includes those stories you didn’t write for Halloween or the Day of the Dead, but which are occurring to you now.

Thanksgiving Poems

Thanksgiving Plays

(for the very ambitious)

Thanksgiving Performance Art Piece scenarios based on the life of Michael Heizer

Just kidding.  Levitated Mass, a documentary about one of Michael Heizer’s works.

But if you ARE going to propose a Thanksgiving Performance Art Piece involving Michael Heizer, you might like to include something about carving a Rift sort of thing into one of the casseroles.  Perhaps this could develop into an irritating relative story as well, come to think of it.

Michael Heizer’s piece, Rift, at the Menil Gallery in Houston.

Thanksgiving Ballet

Again, just kidding.  But a story of a relative who FINALLY decides to EXPRESS all of her pent up passive aggression to the family in the form of an interpretive dance piece, along the lines of a Triadisches Ballet could be pretty funny, given the right treatment.
